Annunciation School in Elma is currently accepting applications for its Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 programs for the 2013-14 school year. Following the New York State core standards for preschools, the primary goal in Annunciation Pre-K is to have your child’s first experience in school be a positive, fun and successful one!

Bishop Malone to Celebrate 10th Anniversary Mass for Mary Queen of Angels School

Buffalo Bishop Richard J. Malone will celebrate Mass at Queen of Martyrs Church in Cheektowaga in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School. The Mass will take place at noon Tuesday, April 30, followed by a luncheon in the school cafeteria, located at 170 Rosewood Terrace.

The anniversary Mass will be concelebrated by Msgr. Kevin O’Neill, canonical administrator of Mary Queen of Angels School; Fr. Louis Klein, pastor of Queen of Martyrs Church; and several current and former pastors from Catholic parishes in surrounding neighborhoods.

Annunciation’s Center for Health Science Continues to Thrive

The Center for Health Science at Annunciation School in Elma, a unique hands-on learning experience for seventh- and eighth-grade students, continues to thrive in its second year.

Sponsored by Unyts, Southtowns Radiology, Independent Health and Bishop Timon St. Jude High School, the program features a wide variety of field trips and guest speakers. In October, students visited Mercy Hospital in South Buffalo for a presentation on cardiovascular disease and a tour of the Emergency Department. In November, participants spent time at P2 Collaborative of WNY for a presentation on Type 2 Diabetes. And just recently, students visited a local Wegmans store where they toured the organic and specialty foods departments as part of a nutrition section of study.  

COMMUNITY Charter School Now Enrolling K-6 students

COMMUNITY Charter School is now accepting applications for students in grades kindergarten through sixth for the 2013-14 school year. An open lottery will be held April 8 to randomly select accepted students for enrollment should there be a greater number of applicants than each grade’s capacity.

COMMUNITY Charter School, located at 404 Edison Ave. on Buffalo’s East Side, provides a safe learning environment, focused on academic achievement. It operates under a philosophy based on the premise that “all children are capable of learning.”

Annunciation Students March for Life in Washington, D.C.

Five students from Annunciation School in Elma took part in the recent March for Life event in Washington, D.C. The pro-life event attracts an estimated 500,000 people annually to our nation’s capital.

In addition to participating in the march, the eighth-grade students also attended a youth rally and visited several monuments. They were accompanied on the trip by Annunciation religion teacher MaryKay Schaub.

Taking part in the event were Annunciation students Alexandra Bielli, Victoria Jankowski, Molly Patterson, Rebecca Rusnak and Maria Tibold.

Applications Available for UPK at Mary Queen of Angels School

Applications Available for UPK at Mary Queen of Angels School

Universal Pre-K (UPK), offered through the Cheektowaga Central School District, will once again be offered at Mary Queen of Angels Regional Catholic School, 170 Rosewood Terrace, Cheektowaga, during the 2013-14 school year. 

UPK is a free program open to district residents whose children will be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1, 2013. Bus transportation is provided, and sessions are offered for 2-1/2 hours per day, Monday through Friday, morning or afternoon. Students are selected for the program through a random draw. Applications are available at the Cheektowaga Central office located in the high school building at 3600 Union Road. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, and the deadline to apply is 3:30 p.m. on April 24.
