Legislature Chair Barbara Miller-Williams Reaffirms County Commitment to the Library

 Buffalo, NY –  Erie County Legislature Chair Barbara Miller-Williams (D-Buffalo, 3rd District) reaffirmed her personal commitment to the libraries today. 

 “The funding of the library system is vital to the economic vitality of Erie County.  I, for one, am committed to moving the process forward and making sure we fund the libraries to the fullest extent possible,” Miller-Williams said.  “there is a process that guides us when we are spending county money and we have to make sure we are completely accountable to the taxpayers of the county.  Right now the process is running its course and I feel confident that the funding for Library will be dedicated to them before the end of the year.”

Candidates’ Hour Returns to Southeast Works

DEPEW, N.Y. -- When was the last time you heard candidates for local office speak to potential constituents, their political challengers and the media, in an equal-time format that allows them to fully outline their positions on the important challenges facing local communities and New York State?

That rare opportunity takes place on Friday, October 15, at Southeast Works in Depew, 10 - 11:30 a.m.

The 15th annual Candidates’ Hour will include office-seekers for all offices in Erie County … including candidates for State Senate and Assembly … allowing them to focus on issues facing the general citizenry, and those with special needs.

The event is hosted by Southeast Works in partnership with the Developmental Disabilities Alliance of Western New York (DDAWNY).

Kennedy, Quinn to Participate in Debate at West Seneca East Senior

West Seneca East Senior High School is proud to host a debate between the two major party candidates for the 58th District New York State Senate seat.

Democrat Tim Kennedy and Republican Jack Quinn III will square off in their only public debate on Monday, Oct. 18, in the East Senior High School auditorium, located at 4760 Seneca St., West Seneca.

The debate will be run by East Senior Participation in Government (PIG) students, with the assistance of teachers Nadine Ocasio and Peggy Santillo, along with assistant principal Jason Winnicki. The teachers organized this debate with the goal of giving students a firsthand experience of what it means to be a part of the political process, as well as providing community members an opportunity to make an educated decision when they head to the polls on Nov.

BUFFALO, N.Y. – In June 2010, HEALTHeLINK received the largest Beacon Community Award in the United States from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The Beacon Project was created to help communities use health information technology to forge cooperation and use resources effectively toward local priority health goals.
