2 Your Pet: Teressa

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Animal Shelter does a wonderful job of helping animals that have nowhere else to go. However, sometimes other organizations step in to help out.

That's the case this week with Teressa. This Staffordshire Terrier is being taken care of by the "Black Dog Second Chance" organization. This organization takes dogs off the hands of the shelter and places them into foster homes while they await adoption.

Teressa is 2 years old and has a zest for life! She loves being with people and is great with kids. She enjoys playing with other dogs and will always be there for you.

If you are interested in adopting Teressa, you can send an email to her foster mom here.

2 Your Pet airs every week on Daybreak Saturday.

Curiosity, compassion, companionship — pets give children the chance to learn about animals and develop healthy, lifelong relationship skills. According to Dr. Alan M. Beck, director of the Center for the Human-Animal Bond at the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine, classroom pets provide academic and social benefits.

Pets, like humans, are enjoying the warm weather and outdoor play this summer. However, pet owners should be prepared for a pest battle unlike previous years as hungry ticks, fleas and mosquitoes await their prey — of the two- or four-legged kind.
