Wet Roads, Speed Cause Serious Motorcycle Crash | News

CHEEKTOWAGA, NY - A West Seneca man was in Critical condition Wednesday morning at E.C.M.C. after a motorcycle accident along the 2300 block of Union Road.
Police tell 2 On Your Side's Jim Herr that Shawn J. Wiech, 30, of West Seneca was traveling Southbound on Union Road when he crossed the center line striking a pickup truck head-on.
The motorcyclist was thrown some 200 feet from his bike.
Rural Metro Medical Services says the man suffered serious injuries to the lower portion of his body.
He is currently listed in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center.
The driver of the pickup truck, Kenneth Bryk, 43, of Cheektowaga was not hurt.
Police believe that a wet roadway and an apparent high rate of speed by the motorcyclist may have played a role in the crash.
The accident is under investigation by the Cheektowaga Police Accident Investigation Unit and currently no charges have been filed.
