West Seneca’s New Outdoor Market Continues on May 22

 

West Seneca’s new Main Street Marketplace, sponsored by the Western New York Federal Credit Union, will continue from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 22. The farmers’ and food producers’ market will feature nearly 30 vendors and local entertainment Thursday evenings through Sept. 4. 

The event takes place on the grassy hill at the corner of Union Road and Main Street, next to West Seneca Town Hall. In the event of extremely wet conditions, the market will move within the park, into the parking lot immediately in front of the West Seneca Ice Rink.

A ribbon-cutting event at approximately 3:45 p.m. Thursday, May 15, will mark the opening of West Seneca’s new Main Street Marketplace. Sponsored by the Western New York Federal Credit Union, the farmers’ and food producers’ market will feature nearly 30 vendors and local entertainment Thursday evenings through Sept. 4.

Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Opens for Season on May 10

 

The popular Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, featuring nearly 40 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local produce and products, will kick off its 15th season from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 10! A program of the Elmwood Village Association, the market will be held every Saturday, rain or shine, through Nov. 29. 

Providing musical entertainment on May 10 (weather permitting) will be Don Z. from 9:30 to 11 a.m., followed by the Buffalo Urban Music Project from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The market also welcomes two community groups this Saturday, including the D'Youville College School of Pharmacy and Tutor Doctor.

Annual Parade of Circles Returns to South Buffalo on June 1

The Parade of Circles, an annual event celebrating beautification projects along McKinley Parkway in South Buffalo, will take place at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, June 1. The event is presented by South Buffalo Alive, a nonprofit community organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in South Buffalo through ongoing preservation and beautification efforts.

Established in June 2001, the parade runs from Dorrance Circle to Heacock Park and is followed by a picnic in the park with plenty of activities for the kids. The parade will feature music and dancing as well as community groups that help make the neighborhood a special place in which to live. Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market to Open on Saturday, May 10

 

Several new vendors, talented local entertainers and two Wellness Weekends held in partnership with the Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo will highlight the 2014 season at the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market. The selling season kicks off on Saturday, May 10, and runs through Saturday, Nov. 29. Hours at the open-air venue in Buffalo’s Elmwood Village are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., rain or shine.

Please note that the market will begin the season on the east side of Elmwood Avenue, directly across the street from its usual location. The move is expected to be temporary and is due to lawn maintenance.

Vegetable, Fruit and Flower Share Programs Return to Farmers & Artisans

 

As the weather slowly improves and we enter the local growing season, Farmers & Artisans in Snyder is now offering its third annual vegetable, fruit and flower share programs. Available for pick-up on Tuesdays or Thursdays at the store, the programs will run from June through October.

Consumers may sign up for one or all shares, and discounts are available when you sign up for multiple shares.

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Board of Directors is holding its fourth annual poster contest to promote the outdoor market’s 2014 season. Entries for the poster competition are due by 5 p.m. Friday, March 7. Whether you’re a student studying the arts, a professional graphic designer or just someone with a creative streak, you’re invited to submit your design for an 11x17-inch color poster that accurately reflects the feel of the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market.
