Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market Expands its EBT Incentive Program

Food stamp customers now have an extra incentive to use their EBT card at the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, one that will entitle them to $16 worth of produce and products from participating vendors for just $10.

Since the beginning of the 2012 market season in May, individuals purchasing $10 worth of EBT tokens for use at the market have received an additional $2 incentive coupon courtesy of the Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, the Lexington Co-operative Market and the Erie-Niagara Tobacco-Free Coalition.

The Elmwood-Bidwell Farmers Market, a Western New York tradition featuring more than 35 vendors selling fresh, seasonal and local products, is open for the 2012 season. Hours at the open-air market are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday, rain or shine. 

 

Providing musical entertainment on Saturday, Sept. 22, will be Sean Hook from 10 to 11:30 a.m., followed from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. by Birdie Cree. Wine-tasting will be courtesy of 21 Brix Winery.

Amherst Garden Walk This Saturday July 21

GARDEN WALK MAPS AVAILABLE

The 3rd annual Amherst Garden Walk is July 21st from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  There are thirty five gardens to visit in this year's Amherst Garden Walk. Of the 35 gardens, 14 are new this year!

  The maps will be available from the town’s website at http://www.amherst.ny.us or they may be picked up in the Supervisor’s office from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM July 18th through July 20th, 2012.  Maps may also be picked up in front of Amherst Town Hall, 5583 Main Street, Williamsville from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Saturday, July 21st. 

Additionally, maps may also be picked up on Saturday, July 21st after 10:00 AM at 3 Culpepper Road, corner of Maple Road.

This dragonfly hovered and alit on reeds and bamboo in my pond several times. It even stayed long enough for a dash into the house for a camera and a lens change.

Hull House Plans Lawn, Plant Sale

The Hull Family Home and Farmstead, 5962 Genesee St. at Pavement Road, Lancaster, will be the site of a lawn and plant sale from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 19 and 20.

Proceeds will benefit the restoration of the Hull House and maintenance of the BiNational Peace Garden.
