Rescue Mission Needs Your Help

The above is a video of Gloria. Gloria was rescued by Farm Sanctuary, and was a victim of severe neglect. For the first 8 years of her life she lived at a racetrack to calm the horses. She was tied to a wall, with no room to walk, roam, or really move at all, and she had no contact with any animals, other than being able to see them move about, as she remained tied. Gloria didn't know how to be a goat, she had never been allowed to prior to coming home to Farm Sanctuary, and as you can see, she can certainly play now!

Congressman Higgins Outlines Next Steps at Canal Side, Outer Harbor

Congressman Moves Forward with Plan to Enhance Public Space, Connect Waterfront & Drive Economic Growth

Standing along the Erie Canal Commercial Slip, Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-27) outlined his plan for next steps in Buffalo’s waterfront development.  The Congressman formally submitted the plan to Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC) after receiving Bass Pro’s July 29, 2010 letter “withdrawing from further consideration of this (Canal Side) development” and has been working on implementing components of his plan over the last several weeks.

“Western New York has an extraordinary opportunity and extraordinary resources to remake its waterfront,” said Higgins.  “By making the necessary investments in public infrastructure we set the stage for long-term private sector investment.”

AMHERST, NY-- Picasso's Pizza on the border of Cheektowaga and Amherst was burglarized Monday night, and Amherst police say the perpetrator was caught on surveillance video.

Employees from a nearby business called police to 6812 Transit Road after seeing a person suspiciously loiter near the restaurant around midnight.

Amherst Police responded to the call three minutes later, finding a window on the side of the building had been broken.

Surveillance video from inside the pizzeria shows a person entering the building, then immediately leaving through a rear door. At this time, nothing has been reported stolen.

Channel 2 News is working to obtain a copy of the video. The case is still under investigation.

Board Recommends 3 WNY Properties for State and National Registers of Historic Places

The New York State Board for Historic Preservation recommended that 24 properties statewide be added to the State and National Registers of Historic Places, including the nationally significant Haviland Middle School in Hyde Park and the birthplace of an important American statesman, William H. Seward.

Three of the sites are in Buffalo:

- The Calumet, on Chippewa Street

- The Zink Block, Massachusetts Avenue on the city's West Side

- Kensington Gardens Apartment Complex, on the Cheektowaga-Buffalo border

"So many of the unique buildings and landscapes that have stood the test of time help us to appreciate New York State's incredible history," said Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation Commissioner Carol Ash. "Listing these landmarks on the State and National Registers of Historic Places will give them the recognition and support they deserve."
